D2 GOST 305-82

The  GOST 305-82 is the Russian variant for D2/Gasoil.  This diesel is characterized by its sulfur content of 0.02 max according to the ISO standard GOST ((Gosudarstvenny Standart) .  The ANSI standard considers the GOST 305-82 "ultra low sulfur"as it retains 0.2% (2000 ppm).

Standard diesel fuel (sometimes called diesel oil) comes in 2 grades: D1and D2.  Diesel fuel is derived from the distallation of oil that is heavier than gasoline but lighter than engine oil and heavy oil.  D1 is similar to kerosene and is lighter than D2 and is sold during winter or in countries with very cold climates.
