ESPO (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil)

The ESPO Blend crude oil is a Russian light crude oil channeled or shipped through the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil pipeline (ESPO or ESPOOP) system and sold to the East Asian/Asia-Pacific Market (Japan, China, and Korea).  The pipeline system is built and operated by Russian pipeline company TRANSNEFT.

This is a 4,857 km pipeline consisting of 32 pumping stations including 13 with tank farms with a capacity of 2.67 million cubic metres.  Pipeline had an initial capacity of 600,000 BBLS per day and increased to 1,000,000 BBLS per day in 2016 with target capacity of 1,600,000 BBLS per day by 2025. The pumping stations are powered by a 35 MW built near the town of Olyokminsk in the Sakha Republic which is fired by the crude oil from the ESPO pipeline.

The pipeline is supplied from the oil fields of Tomsk Oblast and the Khanti-Mansi Autonomous Okrug  in Western Siberia along the existing Omsk Irkutsk pipeline that joins the ESPO pipeline in Taishet, as well as oil provinces of Eastern Siberia.
